GDPR and me...

With the impending General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) deadline almost upon us we must discuss how it is going to effect us and our daily lives going forward. The only way you could have missed the fact that the 25th May 2018 is D(ata)- day, is to have lived under a rock.

My inbox has been pinging away madly for the last few weeks from companies that I frankly didn't even know held my data which when you step back and look at the deep wed impacts this has, is rather scary. Except now I am being given the chance to opt into them contacting me or using my data- which from a personal aspect, can only be a good thing. But as a small business owner what implications does this have?

Awareness; the key word of GDPR.

As a small business I don't have access to the vast resources that the big boys do which does make life challenging sometimes. But for WPMS and GDPR it has been a blessing in disguise as I am easily able to maintain my data, I am easily able to contact my client base and I am easily able to go through the compliance tick list.

Equally, as a small business without access to a huge resource pool I have to make sure that I get, and I mean REALLY get and understand GDPR. I have to know it inside out and back to front and make sure that my clients know that their data is safe with me, that I comply with regulations and individual rights.

Our daily lives going forward will be lives where we have much more control over our personal data, which as shown by the latest Facebook scandal, has reaches far beyond what we see on the surface.

Thankfully, after doing my homework Willow Project Management Services is up to speed.
